An Awning Can Keep Sun off the Windows

Window awnings can reduce solar heat gain in the summer for windows that are exposed to to direct solar radiation. Awnings can be customized for one window, or a whole wall of windows. They can be made out of a variety of hardy fabrics, formed metal, architectural metal… whatever matches your home and fits within a design criteria to match your tastes and your activities.

Solar Panels can be placed along a bank of windows turning your unwanted solar heat inoto electricity. An awning could even be configured into a solar thermal arrangement where your shade on the windows is turned into hot water for home use.

You can use an awning to shade one window or have an awning custom-made to shade the entire side of your house.

Today fabrics are much hardier than the canvas fabrics of the past, and hold up much better. Synthetic fabrics used today, such as acrylics and polyvinyl laminates do not faide, do not mold and can be made in light colors that reflect the light away. You might not want the solar energy reflected against a wall, so added reflection is good or bad. Ventilation helps prevent rapping of heat under the awning.

Awning can roll up for the winter or can be retractable. There are just so many options and possible qualities that awning can bring to you. It pays to explore your options. You can easily turn an awning to keep windows shaded into a dual purpose keep people and a patio in shade too.
